Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer full body relaxation massage?

While I don’t offer full-body relaxation massages, I focus on pain relief for specific areas in a relaxed, calming setting. Each treatment is tailored to your needs, and I work through the fascial layer to help release tension and discomfort. Sessions are designed to address key areas of the body with a gentle, focused approach. For example, you can book a one-hour session for:

  • Back, head, neck, and shoulders (most common for everyone; helpful for thoracic spine postural issues such as hyper/hypo kyphosis of the thoracic spine, and lumbar spine issues like hyper/hypo lordosis)
  • Arms, head, neck, and shoulders or arms only (helpful for office workers, teachers, drivers, medical professionals, police officers, or those with carpal tunnel issues, and thoracic outlet syndrome)
  • Legs and feet (ideal for those on their feet most of the day, or those with conditions like plantar fasciitis, flat feet [pes planus], and high arches [pes cavus])
  • Head, neck, face, and shoulders (very relaxing; great for stress relief, TMJ, autoimmune disorders, chronic headaches, migraines, occipital neuralgia, and trigeminal neuralgia)
  • Abdominal massage with head, neck, and shoulders (beneficial for lower back pain, hip flexor pain, stress relief, IBS, constipation issues, and autoimmune disorders like Crohn's and colitis flare-ups; the washroom is conveniently close to the treatment space)
  • Back and inner armpit (ideal for scapular muscle pain, internally rotated shoulders, or shoulder discomfort)
  • Chest/Breast/Pectoralis major with head, neck, and shoulders (helpful for internally rotated shoulders, breast relief, abdominal cramps, post-breastfeeding relaxation and engorgement relief, menstrual cycle pain, thoracic spine postural issues like hyperkyphosis, and chronic healing post-breast surgeries or chest/breast reassignment surgery)

This is just a general example of the treatments I offer. If you have any questions or would like to discuss a specific focus for your session, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Just to clarify, I do not offer full-body relaxation massage.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Before your appointment, you'll need to complete your intake form online. When you arrive, I’ll review the form to ensure I have all the necessary information. We’ll discuss your preferences for pressure depth, whether you’d like lotion or oil used, and how you’d prefer hand contact during the treatment. I’ll also answer any questions you may have. This process takes about 15 minutes before your 60-minute massage begins. We’ll go over how to position yourself on the table (laying on your back, or side or stomach), how the sheets will be draped, and make sure you understand everything to ensure a safe and effective treatment.

Do I have to completely undress during my appointment?

Your comfort is our priority. To ensure the best results from your treatment, direct skin contact is most beneficial. Please undress to your level of comfort. You will be appropriately draped throughout the session to maintain your privacy and warmth.

How often should I book massage therapy treatment?

How often you come for massage therapy depends on your needs and goals. Some people benefit from bi-weekly sessions for chronic pain or stress, while others may come once a month or as needed for maintenance. Be sure to check with your insurance to see how many sessions are covered, as this can affect how often you book.

What is draping?

It’s positioning the sheets to have access to certain areas, such as limbs, arms, back and chest, I would discuss this with you at the fours treatment.

Do I need to sign a form for draping?

Only for sensitive areas, for your comfort and to ensure professional standards, we require consent for the overall treatment and draping, especially for sensitive areas such as the glutes and breasts.

What is the client's responsibility in helping to keep the treatment room safe?

As a Registered Massage Therapist, my primary focus is to ensure that all clients feel safe and respected. It’s equally important to maintain mutual respect during the session. This includes refraining from any inappropriate behavior or comments. Even though you are being touched for therapeutic purposes, it’s important that you do not touch the therapist at any time. Open communication is key, so please feel free to let me know if you feel uncomfortable or if adjustments are needed. This ensures a safe and professional healthcare environment for both parties.
